secondo me conviene fare una modellazione low poly con uv unwrappate, esportarla in zbrush o mudbox, modellare i dettagli ed esportare poi una displacement map (o una normal map se ti preoccupano i tempi di rendering) da applicare al modello iniziale low poly.

altrimenti potresti andare direttamente di zbrush+decimation master
