Kevin Mackey has released his commercial script for quick creation of character rigs made up of Max bones, which streamlines the process of rigging and animating with the Max bones system

"AutoBones is a system for quickly creating character rigs made up of Max bones, allowing each chain of bones to be animated as a single object, and switching seamlessly between IK and FK animation with minimal effort."

AutoBones streamlines the process of rigging and animating with the Max bones system by:

    1) facilitating faster creation of rigs,
    2) integrating several new features and popular tricks of the trade for natural character movement,
    3) allowing fast and easy transition between IK and FK animation, and
    4) speeding up the overall animation process.

AutoBones creates bone chains of several possible types from user-supplied line objects. These chains can be animated as single objects, such that any keyframes added, moved, copied, deleted, or otherwise changed on any part will affect the chain as a whole. In addition, the chains can be switched between IK and FK at any time, and the IK and FK portions of the animation will transition cleanly from one to the other.
